Controversial Statements,
As a believer in Christ Jesus there are several statements in the New Testament that I and other believers in Christ believe that can be seen as controversial. I lay them out here for you the reader to decide for yourself whether or not you agree with them.
1/ Jesus is God incarnate and the creator of the world.
The apostle John states,
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning.
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
In him was life, and that life was the light of men....
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. ” John 1:1-4,14.
2/ Jesus is the exact representation of God who cleanses us from sin.
The writer of Hebrews states,
“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.” Hebrews 1:3
3/ Jesus is the way to God the Father. The Way to heaven. The apostle John records this statement made by Jesus to his disciples
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:16.
4/ Jesus speaking of himself states,
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son”. John 3:16-18.
C. S. Lewis made this statement,
“Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.” C. S. Lewis.
Thus the question I have for you the reader is Do you believe Jesus is the Son of God, God in the flesh, the Saviour of mankind?
Please think about it.
