In Spirit and in Truth

In Spirit and in Truth
The apostle Paul writes,
"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths." 2Timothy 4:3,4.
One of the biggest missteps made by Christians here in North America is their failure to question what they are taught.
Many Christians listen to anyone who calls themselves a Christian and believes them. They never check the scriptures spoken by the pastors, evangelist or others calling themselves Christian teachers. They believe them at face value.
Many who have gone to church all their lives cannot tell you what the doctrinal statement of their church is or if it lines up with the word of God.
The result is that many people are being led astray.
The apostle Paul tells us,
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2Timothy 2:15.
We need to do this.
There is nothing wrong with questioning a pastor or evangelist or any other Christian teacher about what they say or teach. An honest teacher or preacher will be willing to sit down with you and tell you how he came to believe what he or she believes.
Jesus speaking to the Samaritan woman said,
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24.
We who call ourselves Christians should be doing this as should anyone calling themselves a servant of God.
Thus my question to you the reader are you and the Christian leaders you follow truly worshipping God in spirit and in truth?
Please think about it.

In spirit and in truth

In spirit and in truth
Jesus said,
“Yet a time is coming and has now come
when the true worshipers will worship the Father
 in spirit and truth,
for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
God is spirit,
and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”
                                                                                     John 4:23-24.
If you claim to be a Christian a follower of Christ Jesus, do you worship God in spirit and in truth.
There are many people in churches today who do not worship God in spirit an in truth. To them going to church is part of their culture. They go because their parents went. They go because their friends are there. They go because they like the music and the warm fuzzy feeling they get when they sing. The list goes on and on. The truth is that there are dozens of reasons to go to church. All of which are good.
That being said God does not want people to simply come to church because it makes them feel good, or because it’s a social thing. God wants worshippers who worship Him in spirit and in truth.
If you go to church. If you claim to be a Christian. Are you worshipping God in spirit and in truth?
Please think about it.

In Spirit and in Truth

In spirit and in truth
Jesus said,
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
“Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’
Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”Matthew 7:21-23.
I live in North America so I can only talk about the Church here in Canada and the United States. Here, particularly in the United States Christianity is part of the culture. Many people go to church because that is what you do on Sunday. Church in many cases is a social club. A place of entertainment where you can be with friends.
There are also many claims made by preachers, evangelist and those sitting in the pew with respect to the driving out of demons, and the performing of miracles. How true these claims are is of no importance when someone stands before God to be judged. They are of no importance because God knows the truth.
What God wants from his followers is someone who is someone who is worshipping Him in spirit and in truth. Jesus speaking to the Samaritan woman said,
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”John 4:23-24.
Thus my question to anyone who claims to be a Christian, a follower of Christ Jesus is; Are you truly worshipping God in Spirit and in Truth?
Please think about it.

In Spirit and in Truth

In Spirit and in Truth
Jesus said,
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24.
If you claim to be a believer in Christ Jesus, do you worship in spirit and in truth?
All too often going to church can be simply a weekly or twice weekly routine. People go to church quite often because their parents and grandparents went to church. It many times can be a social event where you meet with friends. The worship becomes secondary.
Even those who take time to spend a time alone with God daily quite often do it because they feel an obligation to do so. Not necessarily because they want to.
God however is looking for people who worship Him not out of an obligation but because they truly believe they must do so. Men and women who truly believe in God with all their heart, mind and soul.
Are you such a believer?
Please think about it.
