Trust in the Lord.
The writer of proverbs wrote,
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”Proverbs 3:5,6.
If you claim to be a Christian do you truly trust in the Lord?
Trust defined by the Oxford dictionary is: “1 firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. 2 acceptance of the truth of a statement without evidence or investigation.”
Trust in God means having complete faith in God. The writer of Hebrews telling us,
A lot of people who say they believe in Jesus say they have trust in God but their actions say otherwise. They for example see the government passing laws they perceive as “anti-Christian”. And immediately protest.
Yet the apostle Paul states,
“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.” Romans 13:1,2.
Remember Paul wrote this in the time of the emperor Nero, an enemy of Christianity.
Paul, the other apostles and followers of Jesus Christ during those early days of Christianity lived within the Roman system of government. With laws that at times did not favour Christianity. Yet they reached the world for Christ Jesus. They did so by following the principle set in Proverbs 3:5,6,
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”Proverbs 3:5,6.
They trusted in the Lord with all their heart and mind and soul. They “leaned not on their own understanding”.
They knew they possessed the very thing that would change the world. The Love of our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus.
As believers in the twenty-first century we need to remember this. We need to remember that we know the very creator of the universe who can work through us to change the world around us. If we let Him.
Please think about it.
