A Magnificent Privilege

A Magnificent Privilege

“Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace.
For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel.”
                                                                                                   Luke 2:28-32.
There are times when I wish I could have been at certain places the bible talks about. The day Jesus was presented by his parents to Simeon is one of them.
This man had waited his whole life for the coming of the Messiah and how he was introduced to him.
Simeon knew what Jesus would become. “A light for revelations to the Gentiles” and for glory to the people of Israel.
I know Jews today do not believe Jesus is the Messiah but that does not negate the fact that Jesus has brought glory to Israel.
Jesus came into the world to bring revelation to the Gentiles. To show them, and for that matter the Jews the way to heaven.
What more glory could a people receive than that of showing people the way to heaven.
As Christians we need to give thanks to God for the revelation that offers us eternal life with God. We need to thank God for Jesus and his saving grace.
The apostle John speaking of Jesus wrote,
“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—  children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”
               John 1:12,13.
Because of Jesus we who believe in Him are children of God. What a magnificent privilege to be called a Child of God.
It is something we should be praising God for and not taking for granted.
I can imagine Simeon holding Jesus and with a loud voice praising God. This is how we should be.
The psalmist wrote,
Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute,
praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD.
                                                                                       Psalm 150
Please dear Christian take time to praise God today

Praise the Lord

Praise the Lord

Praise the LORD.
“Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise the LORD.”
                                                                                         Psalm 150.
Dear Christian here is something simple for you to do today. All to many people listen to Christian music. Sadly however many Christians do not truly praise the Lord themselves.
Take a few minutes to Praise God right now. You can sing you can simply talk. It doesn’t matter how you do it just take a few minutes to PRAISE THE LORD!
Don’t think about it. Do it.

Something for a Christian to do

Something for a Christian to do

Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with tambourine and dancing,
praise him with the strings and flute,
praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD.
                                                                                        Psalm 150.
Today is May 16 2015. When is the last date outside of Church you can remember praising the Lord?
I don’t count listening to praise music as praising here. I’m asking is when was the last time you personally raised your voice to praise the Lord?
Why not do it now?
Find a quiet place. Stand, or sit and just give praise to the God of creation. Either simply say words of praise or sing words of praise.
The words can be your own or that of a hymn or worship chorus you know.
The key here is to praise the Lord.
Please if you are a Christian, take time to praise the Lord.

Praise! Praise! Praise!!!

 Praise, Praise, Praise

Praise the Lord!!!
Exodus fifteen records,
“When Pharaoh’s horses, chariots and horsemen went into the sea, the LORD brought the waters of the sea back over them, but the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground.
Then Miriam the prophetess, Aaron’s sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women followed her, with tambourines and dancing.
Miriam sang to them: “Sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted. The horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea.”
              Exodus 15:19-21.
The Israelites were celebrating God’s deliverance from Egypt. Pharaoh’s armies have just been drowned in the sea. The mightiest army of it’s day destroyed. Not by Israel but by an act of God.
Upon the destruction Miriam leads the women in singing and dancing. She glorifies God for the deliverance of Israel from it’s enemies.
Question, do you give glory to God for what he has done for you be they a small victory or a big one.
I know there is division in the Christian church as to whether we should dance in during a church service. I know that some groups don’t even use instruments during a service. Still we should.
Psalm 150 reads,
Praise the LORD.
                                                                                         Psalm 150.
Here the Psalmist is telling us to use instruments not just our voices.
In first Samuel twenty-eight David danced with all his might before the Lord in celebration. If David danced, if Miriam and the women danced and sang. If the Psalmist tells us to praise God with instruments. I believe we should.
Still that aside do you praise the Lord often enough even if it’s just with your voice?
Think about it.
