Stewards for Christ

Stewards for Christ
The apostle Paul wrote,
“Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ
and stewards of the mysteries of God.
Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.”
                                                                                                  1Corinthians 4:1,2.
As Christians we are stewards of Christ. While a servant had no unique position within his masters household, a steward did.
A steward was a slave who administered all the affairs of his masters household. He owned nothing himself, but was entrusted by his master to handle all of the what the master owned. Joseph in the Old Testament was Potiphar’s steward (Genesis 39:2-19).
Just as Joseph was faithful to Potiphar and did his best to administer Potiphar’s estate so must we as Christians be good stewards of Christ’s estate.
As Christians we are called to administer the word correctly. The apostle Paul writing to Timothy said,
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth....” 2 Timothy 2:15.
We must remember that everything we do, is done for Christ, not for our personal gain or glory.
We as Christians must study the scriptures carefully and present them carefully and correctly to those around us, Christian and non-Christian alike.
That is what it is to be a follower of Christ.
Please think about it.

Absurd

Absurd
The Psalmist writes,
“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us,
and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
                                                                                              Psalm 100:1-5
As I said in a previous blog posts God is real. I believe in Him. Whether you the reader believe in him or not is entirely up to you. I know that one day I will be able to sing the above Psalm in person in front of God.
Voltaire once said,
“To believe in God is impossible
not to believe in Him is absurd.”
                                                Voltaire.
Today in the twenty-first century the debate whether or not God exists still rages on.
Atheist I believe arrogantly say there is no God. I say arrogantly, because for anyone to say there is no God is to say in effect they are God, and that they know everything and have been everywhere. Attributes of God.  Something we know is not true for no one living has gone beyond the grave and come back to tell of it.
Throughout history man has believed in an afterlife and God in one form or another. The ancient Egyptians built magnificent pyramids to place their kings in the hopes it would help them enter the afterlife.
Throughout Europe the ancient peoples buried their people with care putting into the deceased graves items they thought would be needed in the next life.
Even today people of faith around the world perform elaborate rituals in the hopes of going to heaven.
To say that these people are mistaken or worse stupid, is wrong. The people that build the pyramids were not dumb or stupid. Nor are people today.
I believe people know instinctively there is an afterlife. That there is a God. Belief in God gives life meaning and people today just as people throughout time are looking for meaning to life.
The call of Jesus is,
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30.
Jesus offers peace for one’s soul.
Christians believe there is a God who loves us and offers us eternal life with Him in heaven. Jesus speaking of himself said,
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but to save the world through him.”
                                               John 3:16,17.
The Christian believes God reached down through Jesus Christ to mankind to show him the way to heaven. That it is by the grace of God we get to heaven. The apostle Paul stating,
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith
and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God
not by works, so that no one can boast.”
                                                      Ephesians 2:8,9
Ultimately salvation is an act of faith, Hebrews stating,
“And without faith it is impossible to please God,
because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists
and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him”
                                                                           Hebrews 11:6
Faith defined as,
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.”
                                              Hebrews 11:1.
That being said the choice is always up to you.
Do you believe in God?
Please think about it.

Does not defend itself

Does not Defend Itself
“The Bible does not defend itself or debate the existence of God. For the simple reason it was written to people who believe in God and accepted its message.”   Author unknown
I could write volumes is defence of the Bible’s authenticity. At the same time I could speak for hours giving proof of that God exists and Jesus is God incarnate but it would not convince some people.
Some people just want to believe what they want to believe. They believe there is no God it is that simple.
They will not accept the accuracy of the Bible and dismiss its truths as being bias.
As far as I’m concerned that is all well and good.
God when he created mankind gave him a freewill. That freewill gives each and every person the right to believe in God or not. God will not force anyone to believe in Him. It’s that simple.
God want’s our belief in Him to be an act of faith. The writer of Hebrews stating,
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”  Hebrews 11:6
Faith defined by the writer of Hebrews this way,
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
 and
certain of what we do not see.”
                                         Hebrews 11:1.
I firmly believe God wants us to have faith in Him because people of faith are the strongest of followers no matter what or who they believe in.
The strongest atheist I know truly believe with all their heart that God doesn’t exist. Likewise the strongest believers in God are those who believe with their whole heart that God does exist.
As for what the Bible says about God. It’s simple. You either believe in God or you do not. There is no middle ground.
That being said from my point of view as a believer in God. A believer in Christ Jesus. What you believe about God has eternal consequences.
C. S. Lewis wrote,
“Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.” C. S. Lewis.
Thus the choice is yours.
Please think about it.
