A word from the apostle Paul

A word from the apostle Paul

The apostle Paul writes,

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22,23.

This is how the world will know that we are true believers in Christ Jesus. We will exhibit these things in our lives.

love,

joy,

 peace,

 patience,

 kindness,

goodness,

faithfulness,

gentleness

self-control.

When people see your life, your words and deeds do they see the things listed above?

Please think about it.

If you love Christ

  If you love Christ

In John’s gospel we read Jesus as saying,

“....if anyone loves me, he will keep my word and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” John 14:23. (ESV).

This is the mark of a true Christian. A true follower of Christ Jesus. A true follower will keep the commandments Jesus has given them.

As a result they will show positive traits in their life. The apostle Paul noting anyone with God’s spirit will exhibit the fruit of that spirit. Paul writes,

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness and self-control.... Against such things there is no law.”  Galatians 5:22,23.

If you consider yourself a true follower of Christ Jesus, do you exhibit the fruits of the spirit the apostle Paul speaks about?

Please think about it.

Do they see it?

  Do they see it?

In the book of Ephesians we read,

“I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”

                                                                                                      Ephesians 4:1.

If you consider yourself a Christian a true follower of Christ Jesus, do you live a life worthy of Him?

When people see your life do they see the fruit of the spirit?

The fruit of the spirit being listed in the book of Galatians as,

love,

joy,

peace,

patience,

kindness,

goodness,

faithfulness,

gentleness...

self-control....

Galatians 5:22.

Do people see these fruits in your words and deeds?

Please think about it.

Theirs and your fruit

  Theirs and your fruit

The apostle Paul writes,

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

gentleness and self-control....” Galatians 5:22,23a

Above are listed what the apostle Paul stated were true Christian fruits. If we look at a person who claims to be a Christian we should see these fruits.

This should be doubly so for our religious and political leaders.

As believers in Christ Jesus we should be looking to see if those we follow are exhibiting

 love, joy, peace,

patience, kindness,

goodness,

faithfulness,

gentleness and self-control

Question; Do you and the people you support exhibit these qualities?

Please think about it.

What fruit are you eating?

  What fruit are you eating?

In proverbs we read,

“The tongue has the power of life and death,

and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

                                                              Proverbs 18:21

“Reckless words pierce like a sword,

but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

                                                               Proverbs 12:18

In the book of James we read,

“Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body,

but it makes great boasts.

Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.”

                                                                                      James 3:5.

Simply put what we say and do can cause great harm or great good. And we will be judged not only by God but by those around us.

So the message is be careful when you speak. For you will eat the words that come out of your mouth.

Remember what the writer of Proverbs said,

"Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent,

and discerning if he holds his tongue."

                                                             Proverbs 17:28.

Please think about it.

By their fruit

By their fruit
  Jesus said,
"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.” Matthew 7:15-20.
I think this portion of scripture is overlooked by many Christians. Many Christians believe almost anyone who says they are Christian without questioning what the person does. Largely I think because they know Jesus said,
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Matthew 7:1,2.
And quite often Matthew 7:1,2 are used to stop those who would disagree with someone who is teaching wrong doctrine.
However the apostle Paul wrote,
“What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church?
Are you not to judge those inside?
 God will judge those outside.
“Expel the wicked man from among you.”
                                            1 Corinthians 5:12,13.
Which harkens back to what Jesus said,
"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
By their fruit you will recognize them...” Matthew 7:15,16a.
As believers in Christ Jesus we need to examine particularly pastors, evangelist and other Christian teachers. We need to look at what they are preaching and the fruits of their life.
The apostle Paul tells us what the true fruit of a believer is when he wrote,
The apostle Paul writes,
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
 patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control.
Against such things there is no law."
                                                   Galatians 5:22,23.
Are these the fruits exhibited in the lives of the Pastors, Evangelist and other Christian teachers you follow?
Are these the fruits exhibited in your life?
Please think about it.

Living Water

Living Water
“Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” John 4:10.
Living water in Jewish culture is water in motion. Rain water, rivers, wells, spring-fed lakes even oceans are considered living water. It is water that washes things away dirt and impurities it is water that cleanses. At the same time it is the source of life.
This is something that is seen dramatically in the middle east. For months the land is parched. You can smell the dust. Then when the rains come the dust is washed away. New life emerges, the land becomes lush and green.
Jesus mentions living water twice. The first time is with the Samaritan woman at the well there he states,
“Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” John 4:10.
Notice here he does not call himself the living water only that he would give her living water.
Later in John we read,
“On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”
By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.” John 7:37-39.
Note here Jesus means it is the Holy Spirit which indwells believers, that flows from above through the heart of the redeemed that brings life and light to the world.
As Christians we are the channel through which Living Water flows.
Living water in the natural world has it’s source from above it is rain water that falls from above. It is then channelled by rivers and springs throughout the land. The water is then taken into plants that produce fruit.
Likewise when it come to God’s work. He sends the Holy Spirit that enters believers who then take The Spirit to the world around them and produce followers of Christ Jesus. Believers in God.
