If followed

If followed

The apostle Paul writes,

"Let each of you look not only to your own interests,

but also to the interests of others."

                                                Philippians 2:4.

Here’s a concept I think is lost on many who call themselves Christians. Sadly this pandemic has shown us short falls among Christians.

With tens of millions vaccinated without problems. Some who call themselves Christians are not getting vaccinated, some even refusing to wear a mask, calling it a breach of their rights and freedoms.

To my mind this tantamount to worshipping their rights over God and the interests of others.

The apostle Paul wrote,

“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.”  Romans 13:1,2.

Paul makes it clear we are to submit to the governing authorities. The only exception to that I would say and I believe Christian scholars agree is when those authorities forbid us from worshipping God. And here in North America we have not been stopped from worshipping God.

Yes we have had to be creative in how we worship, meeting on zoom, meeting outside, meeting with substantially less people in our churches, but we have never been stopped from worshipping God.

The only things the authorities have asked of us, is to, wear a mask, socially distance and get a vaccine. All that have been proven to help stop the spread of Covid.

Precautions that if followed will help us as Christians look out for the interest of others.

Please think about it.
