Mortality

Mortality

In Ecclesiastes we read,

“Better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for all are destined to be mourned; the living should lay this to heart.” Ecclesiastes 7:2

This at first glance seems odd. Why is it better to be in a house where someone has just died than in a house of celebration?

I think the answer is simple. When we are confronted with the death of someone it should give us pause to think about our mortality. After all 100% of all who have ever lived or are living today have or will die at some point.

Thus the question becomes; Where will you go after you die?

Jesus speaking to Martha asked the question we all must answer,

"Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;  and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"John 11:25,26.

Will you answer in with the same words Martha said,

"Yes Lord" she told Him, "I believe you are the Christ the Son of God, who was to come into the world," John 11:27.

Please think about it.
