A question for the ages

  A question for the ages.

In John’s gospel we read,

"Pilate asked him, ‘So you are a king?' Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.' Pilate asked him, ‘What is truth?'" John 18:37-38.

Jesus never denied who He was even when faced with death. Prompting the Roman governor to ask a question that has continued through the ages “What is truth?”.

Is Jesus the Son of God, the Saviour of all who would believe in Him? Through the ages Jesus has been called everything from a good man to myth.

Today no credible historian would call Jesus a myth. That being said many today simply regard Him as a good man.

When it comes to Jesus C. S. Lewis in his book Mere Christianity said it best when he wrote,

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.” C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity.

So who do you think Jesus is?

Please think carefully about it.
