Christian Life

Christian Life.

“In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness  and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.”
                                                                                                     Titus 2:7,8.
Note the scripture quoted above,
“In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness  and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.”
Pliny the Younger (61-112 AD) was a powerful Roman lawyer, senator and intellectual. He was Roman governor of Bithynia in Asia minor writing to Emperor Trajan wrote,
"They (Christians) were in the habit of meeting on a certain fixed day before it was light, when they sang in alternate verses a hymn to Christ, as to a god, and bound themselves by a solemn oath, not to any wicked deeds, but never to commit any fraud, theft or adultery, never to falsify their word, nor deny a trust when they should be called upon to deliver it up; after which it was their custom to separate, and then reassemble to partake of food--but food of an ordinary and innocent kind..."
Pilny was charged with finding something wrong with Christians yet he reported to emperor Trajan that they were doing good things.
This is how the church should be today. We should be living such an upright life that the world cannot find anything wrong with us.
Sadly in our wired world it is easy to find fault with anyone with little or no work. Still we must remember this and do our best to live up the standards of Christ.
We should as James puts it,
“Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom,
because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!”
                  James 2:12,13.
Our prayer each morning should be something to this effect,
Dear Heavenly Father,
Let me draw closer to you this day. Let me learn more of you. Let me reflect your love to all around me. Let me point others to you.
Think about it.
